SAMMAMISH PORT CLUB - JUNE 2018 - Sammamish, Washington (6/3/2018)
  • 1964 Krohn Porto Colheita Branco - Portugal, Douro, Porto
Bottled in 2008. Touches of honeysuckle with some cedar on the nose. Full, unctuous mouthfeel with orange spice notes and good acidity. This wine is starting to show some dusty age. Vanilla and some woody notes on the palate with good acidity on the long finish. (93 pts.)
  • 2003 J.W. Burmester Porto Colheita - Portugal, Douro, Porto
Bottled in 2017. Some notes of orange peel and some spirit on the nose. Amber-brown in color with good clarity. Unctuous mouthfeel with bright acidity. Caramel apples on the palate with a smooth, long finish. (94 pts.)
  • 1996 J.W. Burmester Porto Colheita - Portugal, Douro, Porto
Bottled in 2016. Amber-orange in color. Toasted nuts and spice on the nose. Well-balanced, with smoky notes, almond and orange spice on the palate. Long finish. (92 pts.)
  • 1989 J.W. Burmester Porto Colheita - Portugal, Douro, Porto
Bottled in 2016. Orange- amber in color. Caramel and pralines on the nose with a touch of spirit underneath. There is a lot of sweetness on this wine, which takes away from the complexity. (88 pts.)
  • 1985 J.W. Burmester Porto Colheita - Portugal, Douro, Porto
Bottled in 2015. Citrus notes on the nose with a touch of spirit. Some sweet notes of crème Brulee, but a little flat on the flavor profile. Nice long finish, though. (90 pts.)
  • 1978 J.W. Burmester Porto Colheita - Portugal, Douro, Porto
Amber-orange in color with lightening on the edges. A touch of spirit on the nose. Luscious pecan and unctuous mouthfeel with great acidity. Great long finish. (94 pts.)
  • NV Agri-Roncão Porto DR - 40 Year Old Tawny - Portugal, Douro, Porto
Bottled in 2015. Orange-brown in color. Dark chocolate and espresso notes on the nose. Rootbeer on the palate with dark mahogany notes. Full-bodied with nice notes of caramel and nuts on the long finish. (95 pts.)
  • 1968 Caves Messias Porto Colheita - Portugal, Douro, Porto
Orange-brown in color. Some lemon and citrus notes on the nose. Simplistic palate with a little strawberry and some noticeable alcohol present. Short finish. (89 pts.)
  • 1950 J.W. Burmester Porto Colheita - Portugal, Douro, Porto
Bottled in 2010. Dark brown amber in color. Espresso and dark chocolate on the nose. Some spirit on the palate, giving way to cedar and some caramel notes. Medium-bodied with a pronounced sweetness, which is balanced out by the bright acidity. (94 pts.)
  • 1941 Kopke Porto Colheita - Portugal, Douro, Porto
Amber in color with some hints of brown around the edges. This Colheita shows some light spirit on the nose with pralines, nuts, and honey. Great texture and unctuous mouthfeel on the mid-palate. Perhaps a touch too much spirit on the long finish. (93 pts.)
