Re: Question . . .
The vast majority of Port in my cellar is Vintage. The remainder is a small amount of Colheita. I would be concerned about cellaring tawny's due to the small t-cork that most of them use.Luc Gauthier wrote:Do you only cellar VP's ?

Almost all is VP's. However, some are Colheita's.
I've also kept a few LBVs (both filtered and unfiltered) as experiments...as I've had a couple older LBV's and they seemed to age pretty well. Even a filtered one I've had. So I'm curious to see how a modern LBV will hold up with some age.

I cellar VP's, and Colheitas. And i do have a few LBV's in there that, Like Andy, i want to see how they age. This is since early in my Port drinking career i scored a huge mixed lot of VP's, LBV, and Ruby that was bottled mainly in the 80's. i drank them circa 2000-2 and thought several of the LBV's and even basic Ruby tasted pretty darn good and seemed on the whole well integrated.
Without hijacking the thread, do Colheitas benefit from bottle aging?

I've got mainly VPs, although the unfiltered LBVs are starting to have an impressive showing at nearly a dozen that I am hoping to keep for some time. One of these days I am really going to have to get some wine racks to get it all organized. Once that happens, there will likely be separate spaces for unfiltered LBVs (probably the only price-point Port I'll be able to afford decent quantities of over the next couple of decades) and VPs. The VPs will try to stay tucked away in corners and behind LBVs, some Coheitas and a few rubies that I'll stash away for experimental sake. This is to keep me away from the VPs! :) Outta sight, outta mind!

I cellar mostly VPs. I do have my share of Colheitas and then about a mixed case of Tawnies with an indication of age, and LBVs.
