For The Love Of Port

Our last bottle of 12 purchased from the Danish importer August 2015.
Bottled 2013. Decanted 1 hr. Foggy/slightly oxidized at decanting. Some improvement in the decanter. Medium red with a greenish rim. Shy aroma, although some citrus. Full body. The taste is powerful, smooth, nice citrus, hints of honey. Touch of alcohol in the background. Acidity is building up quite strongly. Structure is not as solid as before. Medium to long aftertaste. 88 pts.

As a general rule I find that Krohn's Colheita's don't hold up to bottle aging all that well. They are best within a few years of bottling. Do you think this was the case here?

Yes, I think so. They were purchased August 2015 and the first three years they were all excellent.
Early 2018 we ended up with lower scores. It was then 4.5 years since bottling 2013.
The last three bottles were conusumed over the last two years, and in reality that was too late (last bottle was 7 years since bottling).

We have a tawny/colheita-plan in our house to end up with a cellar with max three years after bottling (although with some very few exceptions). That process was started about one year ago, and hope to reach the goal within next spring.
