1955 Domaine et Banyuls Grand Cru
I have purchased this wine as a gift for a friend celebrating a 65th birthday (hence the 1955 vintage). I did some research on the style and noted it to be a bit of a cross between port and Madeira, therefore suitable to the celebrant's taste. Does anyone have any information or helpful comments regarding the vintner, storage, etc.?

I don't know much more than you, but I've a couple of the 1949. Grenache based and wood aged. Texture and sweetness of Port with perhaps a wee bit more acidity, at least in the 1949. Would store like a wood aged Port.

My research had indicated that the 1949 was a better vintage, but this was, of course, an anniversary/commemorative purchase. Thank you for the information.
