1994 Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port

Tasted at a mini-vertical of 1994-1998.
1994 Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port
decanted 8 hours, which ultimately seemed too low. Recommend 10.
Color: dark purple with only about 1/4" rim. Very dense. Looks like something 20 years younger.
Nose: Fruity, with purple and blue notes. Some faint unidentifiable floral notes.
Palate: Big and tannic, with a slightly dry and tart impression. Some chocolate. Deeply layered fruit flavors. There's a very faint bitter edge in the late palate and early finish, but not enough to be distracting. This is still somewhat boisterous in its flavor profile!
Score: 95 points. That feels slightly high for some reason, though others scored it higher. The bottle didn't strike me as anything special for a 1994 Vesuvio, but this Port is so good that even on an "average" night it can still be wine of the night.
