1996 Warre’s Quinta da Cavadinha vintage port
One single bottle won at the Norwegian Wine Monopoly auction October 2020. Decanted 5 hrs which was suitable. Plenty small sediments. Deep purple colour with a light rim. Latter being tiny bit unclear. At decanting there were some pepperish notes in the aroma. Aroma dominated by ripe fruits (although ripe it was still some freshness), prunes and some oak and herbs in the background. Full body. The taste was powerful, showing ripe fruit, prunes and nice fresh acidity. The first 15 minutes of the tasting we detected som medicinal notes towards the end, but after that it disappeared. Rather sharp towards the end. Long aftertaste. 88 pts.
