1977 Taylors' vintage port

Post by Rune EG »

Decanted 6.5 hrs which worked well. Although the cork was quite wet, it came up in one piece with the Durand. Dark redbrown colour. Aroma of prunes and oak with the fruit in the back. Hint of herbs and floral notes. Full body. Taste is both powerful and elegant (latter is staying on the whole consumption), just the way I like it. Quite a mouthful consisting of prunes/oak/berries/minerals all in a nice harmony. Wonderful distinct tannins. Not too sweet. Well-structured and had a nice acidity/sweetness-balance. Long, wonderful aftertaste. This bottle kept up the good quality for about an hour, and as we finished, we could note it had peaked. Same score as the first of the two bottles purchased at the same time September 2017. 97 pts.
