For The Love Of Port

Wine Exchange is having a tasting this coming Friday. I am in the process of trying to find out what they will be pouring. But their tastings typically run between 15-20 wines poured at each event, so the cost is always worth it. I won't be able to make it due to work, but hopefully some of you can.

We’re hoping for a little chill in the air come December or at least an excuse to light a fire. The shoes are off, you're leaning back in your ‘Barcalounger’, gazing at the crackling logs and thinking ‘ I need a dessert wine. ‘ We may not have the fireplace or the leather padded easy chair, but we can trot out a lip smacking assortment of Ports, Madeiras, and Sherries as well as touch on some other dessert realms that will get you into a winter frame of mind and quite possibly give you some new options to have at hand when your sweet tooth starts acting up. The array of styles will surprise a lot of folks. Cost is $24.

1997 Fonseca VP
1997 Krohn Colheita
2000 Krohn LBV
Taylor 10 year Tawny Port
Rare Wine Company New York Malmsey

some other stuff from
Tokaji
Italy
USA
Milaga (whatever that is and if I spelled that right???)

and even more things. Should be a fun tasting and a way to try a variety of things from all over.

They probably mean Málaga, which is a Spanish fortified wine that originated in the city of the same name. I think it is PX and Moscatel based.

Sounds like an interesting lineup...

The 4pm - 6pm timing is interesting (is this a supposition that one must be in retirement to be interested in port or madeira), and on a Friday rush hour no less..... well, there goes yet another tasting opportunity......

Heather..I know. I told them this is a bad day and time, but it was all theyhad to squeeze this tasting in to their normal line up. I guess something is better than nothing :?
