One of many bottles purchased en primeur at Berry Bros., London, in the mid/late 90s. Carried home in the cabin of the airplanes (as this was before 9/11). This one from January 1999, so been in our cellar for 22 years. I have waited for this Vesuvio-vintage to come around as a nice product. In my opinion it took 20 years.
Decanted 6 hrs. Plenty of small sediments. Deep dark red colour. Strong fruity aroma. Full body. Taste is powerful, elegant and quite a mouthful. Plenty of fruit with minerals and oak in the background. Nice structure and good sweetness/acidity-balance. A very nice vintage port. Long aftertaste. 94 pts.
