1970 Graham's vintage port
Second of the two bottles from Norwegian auction June 2020. Bottled by the Norwegian state Monopoly. Decanted 3 hrs 45 min. Managed to get up a very wet cork (with the help of the Durand). Plenty with sediments. Medium redbrown colour. Aroma is showing overripe plums and actually some dust. Full body. Powerful, quite elegant, ripe plums, minerals, touch of oak. Slightly sharp in style. Both the structure and the balance are OK, but nothing more. Long aftertaste. 90 pts
Re: 1970 Graham's vintage port
I've had numerous bottles of this Port. Sorry to say this sounds like one of its worst showings I have heard of. Do you think the storage at some point was not good?

That's not a description that I would expect for a 1970 Graham, so it sounds like you had an off bottle.

Hi John M and Glenn!
Two bottles purchased at auction June 2020.
The first bottle (which I did not post at FTLOP) was consumed August 2020.
That bottle was scored at 90 pts.
So, this second bottle consumed March 2021 got the same score.
These bottles were released 1972, and purchased by me 48 years later.
Have no idea where they have been stored during those 48 years.
I wanted some 1970 Graham's VP and took a calculated risk by purchasing at an auction.
These were OK, but nothing more.
