1970 Quinta do Noval vintage port

Post by Rune EG »

Purchased from the Norwegian Wine Monopoly December 2010, and since then stored in our temperature-controlled wine cellar. Decanted 3.5 hrs. Dark brown colour with a touch of red. Light rim. Deep aroma of sweet berries, wood, anis and herbs. Full body. Taste was powerful, elegant and in general followed the elements of the aroma (sweet berries, wood in addition to some polished tannins). The tannins (and also the acidity) were building up during the consumption. Medium to long aftertaste. 91 pts.

Such a variable VP. Most don't show so great these days, some show nicely. Glad yours was the latter.
