Bottled 2007. Open and decanted for approximately 2 hours before tasting it. When opening the bottle I smelled mostly vanilla and some caramel / burnt sugar. The color was a light, reddish brown, but leaning much more to the reddish side, which was surprising to me for a 29 y.o. Colheita.

When I poured it in my glass after the 2 hour decant, the nose was almost nonexistent. It smelled more of alcohol than anything else. The first sip delivered a warm, highly acidic taste that somehow blended perfectly with the light tannins. I tasted vanilla, caramel and some slight citrus (orange peel?) along with some pleasant smoked wood. The acidity was the highest I've ever had in a port to date and yet somehow it wasn't obtrusive at all. It was just there. The Colheita was fresh, pleasing and very delicious. I definitely want to see if I can find more of this one. 92 pts. +
