Bottled 2021. This note from a test-tube sample as part of an online Kopke Port Masterclass.
Less green at the rim than the 1966 tasted at the same time, and a more mellow “tawny” color. Soft, elegant nose with some sandalwood and caramel. Smooth, rich, round, and very mellow in the mouth. A bright mandarin note and some bright ripe apricot, backed by molasses and dark honey. This is a fantastic showing - one of the best showings that I can remember - from a Port that is always excellent or better. Wonderful acidity balanced by a lot of sugar – the combination makes for a very powerful Port, exceptionally well-balanced Port. Fantastic. 97 points.
