Over the past 400 years St James’s district has been established as the spiritual home of port in the UK and 1857 The Bar continues this tradition in a contemporary manor fit for the 21st Century.

1857 The Bar's menu has been curated to feature the widest variety of port found in any London bar including limited, rare and unusual wines, aged tawnies, single quintas and vintage ports to delight both port lovers and newcomers to the drink along with classic and port cocktails, premium spirits and an extensive list of wines.

Only here, at 1857 The Bar, will you find the oldest port wine in the UK, the exceptionally rare Graham’s 1882 Ne Oublie port served by the glass.

We are proud to partner with the Symington Family Estates whose Scottish, English and Portuguese ancestors have been Port producers in northern Portugal since 1882. For 5 generations they have combined their passion for producing fine wines and Ports with a deep commitment to the region’s land and people. Today, ten Symingtons work across their four historic Port houses and are regarded as a leading premium Port producers in the world.

Open daily from 12pm to 12am, 1857 The Bar offers a casual All Day Dining menu along with a bar nibble list, formulated to include produce that pairs extremely well with port, including Stilton, foie gras, tuna belly and burrata.
