For those interested, the Confraria do Vinho do Porto just approved a new rank: Fidalgo Cavaleiro (Noble Knight).
The new Fidalgo rank is open primarily to Certified Wine Professionals, Wine Educators, Journalists, Wine Event Organizers, Social Media Influencers, and similar candidates who can only be nominated by a current Mestre or by the Chancelaria (the five-person board that governs the Confraria).
The candidate has to submit an application highlighting their qualifying activities, and the process includes approvals by the Chancelaria, the General Assembly, and the enthronization in a ceremony in Porto. Fidalgo has to be renewed every five years.

Coolio. I like the 5-yr renewal too.
