Some notes say the corks were bad, I seem to remember one saying that the bottle necks were not quite perfect. Either way there seem to be some doubts over the closure.
Does anyone know anything specific about this? I think Roy mentions it on one of his Taylor notes so maybe he can help.
This would seem a pity as, surely, of all post war vintages this one is built to last and it would be a shame if they had their lives shortened across the board by a fault.
I suppose this is the flip side of removing the inconsistency and bottle variation from when they were shipped in pipe and bottled in England. Then, although you have to discount some bad bottlings, there would not have been consistent faults on everything.
