1995 Quevedo Colheita Tonel (2022)

Day 7 of the 2022 Quevedo Prestige Advent Calendar

Color: garnet or med dark garnet, barely opaque in the center. Definite signs of tawny tones starting to show up, but overall more ruby than tawny.

Nose: tangerine? Possibly mulling spices, some caramelized red fruits, some cream cheese frosting. Some very faint stone fruits in the background - almost like an echo.

Palate: very mellow and smooth, luscious, with a full body. Secondary ruby fruits swell after an initial impression of jam, but there are also tawny notes like dried apricots and dried pears. There are a few firm tannins.

Score: 92 points. I'm still finding these insufficiently tawny to truly be enjoyed as Colheitas, but it is a nice Port. This one is more into the straight up super-high quality 10 year old Tawny realm than the 1997s. It does not taste like what I expect from a 27-year old Tawny Port.
