That is the one I own the most of (you've had one of the bottles with Sean & I actually...)

Both the 70 Colheita and Vintage are phenomenal. [cheers.gif]

I like the Niepoort 1970 Colheita quite a bit but LOVE the 1970 Vintage Port.

Which bottle do you like better. the "normal" one or the short fat bottle?

I am not picky, give me either one! :scholar:

Then again, the 1945 and 1942 Vintage Ports by Niepoort are remarkable. 2000 for a youngster is about as good as it gets. There have been several since then but I typically prefer older versions.

Of those vintages, the 2000 has been scored at 90-94 points and would be my "favourite", but from such a limited selection that I really don't know how meaningful this choice is.

It's nearly 6 years since I last answered this question and in that time the list of Niepoort VPs I've drunk has grown to include 2011, 2009, 2007, 2005, 2003, 2000, 1997, 1994, 1991, 1987, 1983, 1982, 1978, 1977, 1970, 1966, 1963, 1960, 1955, 1945 and 1942. The 1970 has suffered a bit of bottle variation with one bottle being absolutely amazing (98 points) but the worst being quite ordinary (84 and 85 points). The 1960 is great wine from a vintage which is often overlooked but if you gave me an opportunity to drink again any of the ports from that list of vintages I would choose the extraordinary 1942 - such a superb port.

While my mouth salivates when "Niepoort" and "Colheita" are used in the same sentence, for VPs, the best single bottle of a Niepoort Vintage was a 1997 that was absolutely rocking. I've since tasted other 1997s that weren't quite so dialed in, but that one bottle was one of the best-drinking bottles I've had from Dirk. 1945 and 1970 are generally my favorite vintages.
