1966 Kopke Colheita

Post by Eric Menchen »

(Bottled 2022.) Not bright, but nearly so with great clarity; nice garnet-brown color. Orange citrus tangy aromas with some alcohol warmth, caramel for the sugary aroma element, and a hint of pleasant smoke. Very warm in the mouth, with lots of acid and pleasant sugars. This is the cleanest and sharpest of the three 1966 colheitas tasted (Krohn and Rocha being the others), but I’m not sure if it is my favorite. And later there was a hint of a varnish aroma. 94.5 points.
