1980 Smith-Woodhouse VP

I have had this two times in the last months, both the corks didn't came out in one piece (even with the durand), as the corks were pretty much saturated. Fortunately both the bottles turned out to be fine!
The colour is brique red, more like a tawny, we just took a sip: the wine seems to be thin, so we just waited one more hour to poor a glass.
Day one: The wine is a bit sharp, some loose alcohol, some spicyness and dark fruit, but enjoyable.
On day two it all came together and turned out to be a very nice port with still enough flavours of dark fruit, raisins, nuts, some floral notes too and a slight little bitter. It was rather on the dry side, not overly sweet. A touch of mint too and overall a nicely balanced and very elegant vintage port.
