Another new article about it worth reading. Take from it what you will. But pay close attention to Adrian’s comment about making Douro table wines and acquiring a property. Hmm…an odd quote about not always controlling the timing.

I think he's probably referring to the fact that the buyer has little or no control over when the seller decides to sell. If a high-value property suddenly pops onto the market for whatever reason, potential buyers have to act quickly whether or not the timing is ideal for them.
Or maybe he's alluding to some deal he has in the works. With Adrian you never really know.

He’s always said Douro is off the table. Now he makes those comments out of left field. I suspect something may be in the works unofficially.

I agree and this reminded me of an intriguing interview with Dirk Niepoort when he talked about buying the Pisca vineyard:
"Anyway, the Bioma is actually from one single parcel that is called Pisca, which is next to Quinta Nova. It belongs to one of our best growers. And it was always fascinating that in years of bigger production the three first barrels were the best, in smaller years the two first barrels were the best. And so I thought, I found out that it was a mixture of Pisca with another vineyard. And I thought it was the blending that was the secret until the day where I went to see the vineyard and I said to myself, “Maybe this blend is so good because of Pisca vineyard, and not because of the blending.”
So I was trying to think, “How can I convince the grower to make this separately? How can I convince him to maybe sell the property?” And incidents while I was thinking this he phoned me and said, he’s fed up with the vineyard. He wants to sell it. Would I be interested? I said, “Well, not really.” So we bought it in 2003, and so we made it separately, and it all went directly into the vintage 2003."
