Double decanted earlier in the day and served several hours later. Really amazing for what it is, and an excellent drink in and of itself. Brown with red color notes, very much like a tawny that's probably spent 5-7 years in barrel before bottling. Little alcohol heat, so you can enjoy the fruit, which is definitely there. The nose is a little dusty. At best moderate sweetness, or perhaps less than that. Paired extremely well with the blue cheese and the chocolate sauce that was also on the plate (the sauce wasn't on the cheese!) Bottles with great provenance would be worth acquiring. (92 pts.)
