1985 Fonseca Porto Vintage - if you don't like a Vintage Port when it shows this well, find something else to drink. Decanted at noon and consumed 8-9 hours later, this provided proof that touting this often and stocking up on it, is certainly no mistake. The nose provided intense, prominent blackberry as well as mocha and a touch of grape jam. This chewy young wine shows a massive palate presence while providing plenty of drinking pleasure now. I loved this smooth operator and it was so mouth filling that dessert (which was only fair to begin with) was pushed aside. This has three decades ahead of it and then it will be in its prime. Nonetheless, it was fabulous at this juncture and for those that enjoy great young Vintage Ports, now is the time to indulge yourself. 96+ points.

Great notes. Roy. I do wish I had more than the two bottles of this that I have. I can take some solace in that when I was looking through my Fonseca corner of my cellar, I see I have a case of the 92 750's, a couple of magnums of the 92 and a half case of the 91 Guimaraens.
I can't find any notes onthe 85. Certainly is a blind spot in my port collection and notes.

That's it, Roy, rub it in some more  Thanks for the tasting update.

I just bought one bottle Fonseca '85 to open on Christmas Day...it just might be the best present I get!

PS - Anyone have any thoughts on decanting time? Tx.
