  This is the 1948 mother wine for the S. Leonardo 40 Year Old Tawny Port. It is dark brown with yellow edges. On the nose, there are chocolate, espresso, and mahogany notes. The palate is intensely rich, offering flavors of molasses, espresso powder, and dark chocolate. Smooth vanilla notes lead to a very long finish. (97 pts.)
