2016 Niepoort, 100% Baga grape from their Quinta de Baixo vineyards. 11.5% abv. Very delicate cherries with a tannic backbone. Shy at first, then opens up with air but still retains that restrained fruit profile. Best comparison would be old world Pinot Noir from long ago. Deceivingly long finish just dances around for ages. No experience with this wine previously, but would appear to need more time to really strut its stuff. 92+ points.

I'm a big fan of this. The Bairrada wines can age so slowly with their acidity and thight but fine tannins. I had the 2012 recently and it still can age.

Let's see!

Good to know. I’ve got a few more of these so I’ll set a couple aside to age more. Thanks.

Also a big fan. I sitting a bunch of the 2011 Garrafeiria. I think they'll need a lot of time

The 2012? It was the first year. I think they can be drunk now but they will last for quite a few years! I still have a couple as well.
