Spotted in the wild, 1974 Barros Colheita

A lot of us have tasted the 1974 Barros Colheita 2014 bottling with the carnation stylistically printed on the bottle. We postulated that a 50 year anniversary bottling would be released, and I believe it was Eric Ifune that reported seeing one earlier on the forum. I saw one as well this past week, and took a photo. I've included a related photo for context.

I paid 105 Euros for the Carnation bottles. Bought four a half decade ago and when they did a newer bottling paid the same thing, although for a full case.

I found the latest bottling for $137 a bottle a few weeks ago in East Newark at an obscure little deli / liquor store.

There were multiple bottlings of the original Carnation bottle. Those were interspersed with non-Carnation bottlings of the same 1974 Colheita. Now that they have the new Carnation paper label, they've stopped selling the non-Carnation bottlings but still bottle and use them for tastings. (We had a non-Carnation bottle on our trip last month, which prompted the question and answer.)

Last year, the Porto duty free had the noncarnation bottles for 100 euros each. Bottled 2024.

I bought a case of the Carnation bottles after Covid, realizing that the 50th anniversary was coming up and the cost all in (one of our discounts offered at the Sogevinus shop) came to 95 Euros per bottle. Glad I purchased 12 then. Only have 3 currently remaining, I opened one for my gf's family on Easter Sunday and it was an excellent showing, made more enjoyable by serving at 13* C. and warmed up while drinking.
