1994 Confraria do Vinho do Porto VP

Tasted blind in a horizontal of 1994 VPs. Medium red color with some browning, and some sediment. The aroma started out with dried fruits, musty prunes, along with some smoky and even slightly rubbery notes. Later there were suggestions of meat or salami. There are really nice developed flavors, including peach and plum, along with great tangy acidity. There is just a faint touch of tannins. The finish is medium in length and features the tanginess noted earlier. Scored 91-92 points, before TCA showed up, sending the wine downhill.
