Tasted blind in a horizontal of 1994 VPs. Fairly light in color, although not as light as the first wine tasted (Confraria do Vinho do Porto). Smells of cooked vegetable, rubber, and musty moist cellar. Medium-light bodied, and underwhelming with a small sip. A bigger sip shows a little more fruit, body, and sweetness. The finish is medium in length with alcohol warmth. The flavor is improving relative to the off-putting aroma, but this is still a weak bottle in the flight. 90 points. (3 Aug 24)
In 2009 I really enjoyed this as a great QPR wine, and thought it "could still be good for five more years, possibly ten." It seems I was on the money there if this bottle is any indication. I have a few bottles in the cellar that I hope have held up better.
