Tasted blind in a horizontal of 1994 VPs. Very dark color, with a hint of brown, but not as much brown as earlier wines #2 and #3 (Taylor and Ferreira). Smells of deep dark fruit, but with some oxidation and leather. Later the aroma offered a suggestion of tar. Huge fruit flavors, with chocolate and leafy herbs as well. There are big tannins, with lots of puck and power, and a little warmth in the finish. The sweetness is building. Later I noticed tropical fruit aromas, some phenols, some vegetable, and tree bark! 94 points.
