1985 Fonseca VP

Post by Eric Menchen »

Big and powerful aromas to start, with plum, cherry, blackberry, leather, and strawberry. Tastes jammy, and the flavor has a similar power and warmth as the long persistent finish. Lots of tannins and good acidity. Medium sweetness. This is a wonderful and very powerful wine that is just showing a hint of age. My wine of the day in a lineup of eight Fonseca VPs from 1963 to 2003. 95-96 points.
