Smells of cracker and spice, with wintergreen and herbs as well. But I can quite place the herb aromas. There are also aromas of tar, leather, and cacao, followed by some red fruit. Tasting shows a lot of warmth, and a lot of primary dark fruit flavor. Rich and thick with macerated berries, there are lots of tannins noted in a big sip. Flavors include black plum and blackberry along with orange acidity Will this outlive the 1985? Maybe, but on this day I prefer that one. 95+ points.
