Color: Brick, Rim: Clear, Meniscus: Thin, Weight (Viscosity): Medium, Nose: Charred Wood, Grape Jolly Ranchers, Medicinal, Leather, Taste: Cherries early on, Chocolate (Milk), Pepper, Raspberries, Tart Cherries, Acidity: Medium, Mid-palate, Late, Tannins: Medium, Late, Sweetness Level: Little, Mid-palate, Finish: Long, Smooth. 5 hour decant.

This is a nice, mature Port. It's fairly simple (it's not as structured or as powerful as the 1980 version), but drinking nicely. It's fully integrated and should remain at this plateau for another 5 - 7 years before it starts to decline. It's a very nice sipping Port. I'd score this at 92 points

Much like the 1963 Noval VP, there is bottle variation in this vintage of Dow’s. Some are as you describe and some that are still dark, complex and that have decades ahead of it.
