1970 Quinta do Noval Nacional VP

Post by Eric Menchen »

Good clarity and color, and slightly darker than the two 1975s that followed this one, Fonseca and another Noval Nacional. Initially presented a sugary fruit aroma, like a dried fruit roll-up. There are notes of fig and cherry, and faint alcohol spirit. Strong and powerful flavors for a 1970, with grape, raisins, fig, and date. Then I noticed some spicy cinnamon, rose, and a touch of hot pepper. Very nice indeed. 94 points.
