There is only a very faint aroma on the first whiff, with some suggestion of dark dried fruit, like a dried fig. But the first sip shows a wine with nice body, spicy flavors, and notes of cinnamon, star anise, and esteva. This turned out to be really wonderful wine despite the weak start. 96 points.
