Vesuvio 1996

Post by Al B. »

My name's Alex and I can't stop buying port.

OK, so within hours of saying that I am keeping my wallet in my pocket until after Christmas, I have just found a bargain that I wasn't able to resist.

Berry Brothers in Dublin are selling Vesuvio 1996 for under 32 Euros a bottle.

Alex,

Fortunately for you, things are not that bad yet. You should see what I did to my good friend Nicos' wallet his first year looking for Ports. In years to come, he will be a very happy camper though.

There really should be 12 step program for out of control wine buyers!
Ambition driven by passion, rather than money, is as strong an elixir as is Port. http://www.fortheloveofport.com

Alex,

The first step to recovery is admiting it to yourself - I would suggest you go back into denial as soon as possible to avoid permanent damage to your cellar stock :P

I picked up a 6 pack of Vesuvio 96 earlier this year for £110 on uvine.com - have you tried it yet? I was planning to keep mine for a while but would be interested to know if it is anywhere near ready to drink now.

I plan to try one of the bottles this weekend. I'll post a TN and let people know what I think.

Well, I have opened one. It smelt wonderful but was really tough to decant. I didn't do that good a job as the wine has come out cloudy. I won't be writing a tasting note on this bottle.
