Hope your bouquets went well... bouquets in the Port you hopefully consumed last night! :lol:

Just for the record, I hate this day. Over commercialism at it's finest. Fortunately, I have an understanding wife who hates this day too. We celebrate it with dinner at home, nothing fancy, but a good bottle of wine (I had some port - but not too much - I'm on call! :shock:)

I finally reached the point where I had to alter my Valentine's Day tradition for my wife... because 22 roses is just too many at once!

So since we're both math geeks, the roses are now coded. Red = 5, white = 1. :wink:

We started the evening with wine (her) and port (me), moved on to steak oscar for dinner, then to chocolate creme brulee and more port for dessert!

Valentine's day has a special significance for me. It's the day I left my wife in 2000 :roll:

I'm with Todd on the view that it has turned into a commercialized nightmare, although Jo and I did share a bottle of Bollinger on Wednesday just for the hell of it 8--)

I cooked,

Scollops with chards of pineapple and baby cabbage leaves, lightly fried.

Baked Stuffed Peppers, butternut squash, onions, courgettes, tomatoes ,etc, with garlic butter jacket potatoes. A large rump steak, with a brandy and peppercorn, creamed sauce. Washed down with Moet, and later we polished off a full bottle of Warres Tawny.

And when you consider the roses and the card, I better have got some significant brownie points!!!

Two things Alan:
1. This should make up for any grief that MAY have possibly come your way in '08 for Port purchases that Debs considers "over the top," and;
2. What's for dinner in '09? Sounds like I'm making plans! :D :lol: :lol:
