2003 Cockburns Vintage Port

Post by Mark DaSilva »

Yes, a bit early to open, but the bottle was a victim of a Fed Ex drop (label stained from a broken bottle nearby, cannot sell) and we were too eager to let it sit. And, Fed Ex covered the cost.

So...

Very smokey, very thick. Full-bodied. I first thought tobacco aroma, everyone else said the same. This goes down like a Cabernet. After a few more sips, the berry flavors come through on the aftertaste. Makes you want more, but not until you've swallowed. Very unique. Never had a port like this one. This one has muscle.

Although a great port, this one obviously requires decanting. We saw lots of sediment coming through towards the end.
