Hello all: My name is John Proctor. I'm a semi-retired attorney now doing corporate board and community service after 35 years with a large DC law firm---and enjoying wine-related travel. My wife Patti and I now live on the Eastern Shore of Maryland---less than two hours from DC and my office----where our wine purchases are shipped. We have collected (and enjoy drinking) Bordeaux and Brunellos and shiraz for many years. More recently we have discovered the power and richness of Amarones. From Amarones it seemed a logical step to collecting VP's---an under appreciated and bargain-priced sector of the wine market. We've started adding some of the highly rated (modern and classic) VPs to our cellar----with the joy of knowing that we and our children and grand children will enjoy them for many years. Fascinating stuff, relatively inexpensive compared to modern Bordeaux---and we don't have to worry about a short shelf life. Cheers

John,

Welcome to FTLOP and thanks for a great introduction. I am glad the Port bug has bitten and that you have found us. Your 100% right, Port offers some great deals compared to other wines. This is a really friendly group, so feel free to ask any questions that you may have or chime in with your thoughts on a subject. I look forward to hearing more from you and thanks again for joining us.

John,

I appreciate you making the effort to come on by and say hello to everyone. I hope you will enjoy your stay and feel welcomed here as I know you are a fan of Port. 8--)

So please do come on back and join in our lively discussions. As you can tell, this is an amiable group of Port, Douro and Madeira enthusiasts from beginners to experts. We all get along most of the time.

Seriously, WELCOME to FTLOP!

Welcome John.

Sounds like you have quite a cellar already built up and adding VPs to the mix certainly will bring some further depth to it. Congrats.

Look forward to seeing future posts from you and discussing the merits of your new-found hobby! :)
