What a nice tasting and the tasting notes are great information for Madeira lovers. Because the 10 year old Madeiras seem to be a sweet spot for price to value ratio it is a nice idea for an offline tasting in America too.

Andy,
the best thing really was that there weren't any major dissapointments in this tasting. Only the Torreao wine was weaker than the others, but it is no longer produced anyway. Considering that most of these wines are priced at 20 to 40 € in Europe (most of them around 20 € on the island) I keep wondering why sales are still so low.
A couple of friends joined in the tasting and they were all new to Madeira but experienced wine-lovers nevertheless. They all had been drinking the occasional after-meal sweet fortified "something", but I got most of them converted. One of them even asked to take home the Borges Boal...
I plan on doing the same tasting with Verdelho and Sercial 10YO next winter, I just hope the results will be as pleasant

Good to know there wasn't any major dissapointments. 10 year old's are fairly easy to find around my area and most are around the $35-45. I told myself that I wanted to try more Madeira this year. And after some old ones in Boston last month, that got me even more excited. I'll post TN's on those soon, but I've been super busy at work and some other things. Hopefully I'll have those up by next week sometime.

I've never had a bad 10-year-old. The prices have gone up, but are still reasonable. The first that I ever had was the Cossart bual, a very good drink. I would like to see more of the H&H available.
I can't wait to see the next installment!
