Hi,

I am in the aquisition stage and trying to build up my collection (it is very small right now) as I've just started collecting. I noticed a 2000 DOW's VP in my local liquor store for $75 CDN and was wondering if this is a good buy? I know that 2000 is a good year so it spaked my interest. They also have a 2003!

Thanks.

Dow 2000 is a good port, one which will reward a great deal of patience.

C$75 seems to be a fair price compared with other Canadian prices, but in the UK you can find this for as little as C$50 a bottle...

So I guess a fair price depends on your ability to travel to buy port.

Hi David,

I'm not sure of Canadian prices, but there others here that can help out in that regard, but that bottle is a very tasty one and a great addition to any cellar....large or small.

Sorry David - I have been MIA for a while now...

I have had the 2000 Dow VP from a Half recently and it is excellent stuff. I can't recall if I have posted TN for it yet (I sort of doubt it - I have a backlog of about 12-15 that I have to post, but need some further time one night to transfer them from paper to computer...)

It is a great VP, one that will be very good 15-20 years from now, but was drinking okay from a Half recently. I bought my half bottle for $40 (Edmonton, AB prices), so $75 for a full is a decent Cdn price. I would pick up a few or 6 bottles if you have not already.

Actually for a Canadian price, I think that is pretty darn good, if you are unable to figure another alternative route. Besides, when you wind up drinking it in 15 years or more, you will look back at the price tag and think ... 'wow, that was a heck of a bargain in those days.'

For me, it's too much to pay for a port that new, but I a bet that it's a fine port. I can get '85 Dow in the US for $75. I know Canada sucks for prices, so you're probably doing pretty good at that price...
