New guy to the board.

Looking for some 1700's vintage Madeira. Would also consider some vintage up to 1819.

Where can I find a few bottles of this?

Unfortunately most of the really old bottles were scooped up over the past couple of years by "new money" (according to one of my usual sources). Anything pre-1900 has become significantly more challenging to acquire.
The best source is probably the UK based auction houses.

I just wonder, why cutoff in 1819 ?? Do you already have some pre 1819 ??

It seems there are a few bottles of 1820's around so I would like to get some from the 1700's and anything 1819 and before.

I believe that the American based auction houses typically offer more old and great Madeiras than the UK.

Please if any of you guys on the board have this wine for sale if you contact me please have a price in mind that you want for your bottle. I don't like playing the "Make me a offer on my bottle" game. If you are selling you should know what you want for your wine.

Hmm, I don't see any thread here where someone has done that, so I am mystified by your last post. If someone has sent you an email or PM then I'd suggest you handle it with them via email or PM. This is a very friendly group and the hostile sounding post isn't going to win anyone over or encourage them to do business with you. You had two people here give you advice on where to look. Madeira's that old are not that easy to find and you can't just go out and buy them at your local retailer. But your last post is out of line and unwarranted.

Not trying to be hostile at all. I asked where I could find a bottle of certain vintages. I am looking for a place (or person) who has a bottle for sale and offer it at a price, not for me to suggest a price. I don't know what certain bottles are worth so if someone or someplace has one for sale and has a price on it I will decide if that's what I am comfortable paying. Considering I don't know what these are worth how can I name a fair price if someone has one for sale?

When someone sells a car, boat, watch etc. they put a price on it. They don't ask someone to name a price. If you are selling you should know what you want for it.

Thanks for clarifying. The last post just came out of left field as no one had posted anything about prices yet, in any post. Your original question was related to where you could find some bottles....but nothing about prices.

Actually, It is very common in the wine community for people to ask the potential buyer to state a price they are willing to pay for a bottle they are interested in. Often times the owner has had a bottle for a very long time, buying it when the price was much much cheaper than today. They typically are just looking for a fair price and are not interested in getting top dollar, and any resonable offers are accepted. I would suggest checking out prior auction results to see what they last sold for.

what site has a easy to use previous auction results? I found a few but they were very difficult to find certain bottle/prices.

If you want a 'free' search, you'll have to do each auction house separately (there are some paid services who will allow you to search more specifically).
For example, Christies at

this returns 225 results(in Wine) (but there are also filters available e.g. only 26 of these are under $500). Agreed this is not perfect (e.g. # of botttles is not displayed in summary - you need to click on the lot to get that).
But there are only a handful of auction houses so it's not too much effort.
