1992 Taylor's Vintage Port

1992 Taylors Vintage Port (Douro, Portugal)
Served blind, decanted for 6 hours beforehand, though I was not told this information until after I had been forced to make a guess, even though I had asked. Very dark opaque red. Ripe, plumy fruit, excellent length, youthful and rich in taste. I originally guessed 1985 Fonseca due to the fruit profile and was surprised that it was a Taylor’s. Where were the violets on the nose? Thank you to Charles for this treat. It still needs 15+ years to hit its stride, but it can be drunk now with extended decanting. 94+/100.

Obviously you liked it! I do feel it needs time to gain the complexity that I look for in Port to give it a higher rating.

A friend of mine brought it today at the restaurant. Just an amazing young port that is so good to drink right now.
Where were the violets on the nose?
Actually, this bottle was full of it. Served blind, double decanted for 6 hours, I thought it was Taylor 94 and then my friend said I had the producer but not the year.
Quite unidimentionnal right now but the nose is so fresh and pleasant with its violet scents mixed with bordeaux cherries. Mouth is smooth, tannins are so well integrated, no alcool is showing, perfect balance, great finish and it will need so much time to get complexity.
I don't have any in my cellar and I'm starting to look for it now!

A young and gorgeous infant that should not be consumed yet, unless you have multiple bottles and want to either experiment or see what all the fuss is all about. It is not offering great pleasure yet ... unless it is allowed to breathe in an oxygen tent.

Just for the sake of argument and even though I am a lawyer by profession, I really mean intellectual, not serious argument, when do you, Roy et al, think the 375's v 750's v 1500's will be ready?
Presumably the smaller bottles, with less volume age faster. The 375's will be ready , when? the 750's? The 1500's?

I never had great experience with half bottle. By that, I mean that at least 50% of the 375ml that had more than 10 years where not showing as good as I'd expect them to be. For this reason I'd recommend drinking them when you want to.
For the 750ml and the 1500ml, I'd not start to drink them before they reach 20, this Port is still in its prime youth.
