Winebid Pricing...Any Good Deals This Week?

Post by justinbonner »

I'm fairly new to this forum. Can anyone help me choose some good solid older ports (pre 1970) available on Winebid this week? I'd like to spend $100-175/bottle and purchase some "wow" selections. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Justin and welcome to FTLOP!

There are many on this Forum who watch auctions for Port ... like a hawk!

So it may be difficult to get people who do not know you like I do, (as this is your very first post) who are going to be willing to provide you with Ports to buy that might compete with their own bids.

I'd suggest you pull out the Ports that interest you and post them here and we can then comment on them, or give you buy or "ignore" advice. If for example, one of us said ... "here are the ten best Ports on that Winebid listing" I would guarantee you that dozens here would flock to win those wines and your odds would be less then stellar of placing the winner. It is better to post items you are interested in ... or the entire listing of Ports and then see what happens.

Maybe others will disagree with me, we'll see. It happens often, which is what makes this fun for all. :D

Hi Justin,

What Roy said. :) But also, be prepared for some sticker shock. I think you'll have a difficult time finding any "wow" pre-1970 Ports for $100-$175. The ones that, to me, fit into the "wow" category will probably run you closer to $300 if you're even that lucky.

But good luck! There are always a few bargains hiding out there, you just have to be patient and pounce when you see them!
