Are there any? Does it make sense to buy directly (thinking of Barbeito and d'Oliveira) or is it cheaper elsewhere - may it be "home" or somewhere on the island of Madeira?

I was looking around the net a bit and locally (Central Europe) found Oliveira's 1900 Moscatel for EUR 270,- and the 1880 Terrantez for EUR 320,- which seem like a good deal to me - would it be cheaper in Madeira?

Is it possible to buy really old stuff in Madeira (pre 1800) and also some Acciaioly-bottles?

Any of your shared experience is HIGHLY appreciated.

It is not easy to find Acciaioly on the island of Maderia from my experience. In person, you can find some very fine buys at both Barbeito and D'Oliveiras, but they won't sell at those prices unless you are there in person.

Come join us for the 2009 Fortification Tour next May and you'll get some buying opportunities of bottlings that never make it off the island. Then again, you'll have the chance to try some wines while there that I can guarantee you will never have seen before.

Since my vacation is coming nearer now i wanted to come back to my question and ask if there is aome update to my original question; Barbeito stopped their selling of older vintages, MWC is out of reach, so not much is left.

Regarding Acciaioly and Quinta do Serrado i would be interested if it's possible to buy these on the island.
