*** INTRODUCING ***
A GOOD NOSE
Every once in awhile, I come across someone who is every bit as inspired as me when it comes to Port wine and David S. Eley is such an individual. Although some may view his website, blog and newsletter as direct competition with that of my work on FTLOP, I do not perceive it that way at all. When it comes to promoting the word of Port wine throughout the world, there are no competitors, just friends in deed. Therefore, I embrace the work David has put into this exciting new venture and want to do everything I can to help him gain lots of attention from Port enthusiasts who have been loyal to For The Love Of Port over the years. Please read below and you’ll understand why A GOOD NOSE is being promoted here on FTLOP and why we’ll continue to help one another in the future as well. David’s new project is worthy of your time and I urge you to visit his site and sign up for his wine newsletter!
David will drop by to say hello in this thread.

The Douro Boys and The New Douro … go live with A Good Nose.Com
A GOOD NOSE.COM is a modern image and literary resource for the best in contemporary food and wine. This continually expanding web portal, built around the central weblog of English writer and artist David Eley, presents a new generation of exciting chefs and winemakers, alongside established Michelin names and legendary vineyards. Each dedicated micro-site offers a finely crafted perspective through words and pictures. New content will be added on a regular basis, including illustrated features, diaries, photographs and paintings. A Good Nose offers an entirely original online format: photographic essays from legendary kitchens and vineyards, complimented by carefully constructed text and the active blog of an essayist whose professional life is fine wine and gastronomy. This privileged access to so many great chefs and winemakers creates a rich and diverse online world for gourmets and wine-lovers.
The Author and creative force behind A Good Nose is David Eley, an English writer and artist who has specialized in food and fine wine for fifteen years. Based in the glorious Basque country of South-west France, only 2 hours from the noble vineyards of Bordeaux and Rioja and a short distance from Spain's Michelin starred capital of San Sebastian, a place where food is religion. He writes features for The World of Fine Wine (Quarto) and exhibits his paintings in the West End of London. Spending much of his working year with the greatest chefs and most talented winemakers across Europe and the USA, his fresh and original perspective generates a rich vein of material to both inspire and enhance the content of A Good Nose.Com.
The Douro Boys are at the apex of the ‘New Douro’ winemaking movement in Portugal and internationally respected. They comprise five producers: Niepoort, Quinta Vale D. Maria, Quinta do Crasto, Quinta do Vale Meão and Quinta do Vallado. As ambassadors for excellence in this modern world of fine wine, it seems only natural they would find a new online home at A Good Nose.com. http://www.agoodnose.com

If you go trough the Napoles harvest reports, you'll be able to see a few pictures of me sorting the grapes. You can also notice that the FTLOP hat was quite popular and that I had to make a donation of mine to a Californian stagiaire that was at Napoles in 2007.
