Alex B. visits Los Angeles Offline - CANCELLED

IMPORTANT: Due to a major change in Alex's travel plans he will not be coming to L.A. anytime soon. So this offline is canceled for now. I will reschedule on in the near future and let you all know when that is. Sorry if this has caused any inconvience to anyone.

LOCATION:
Most likely it will be at my house again, Alex R. is going to do some of his great cooking. Be glad you don't gotta eat my cooking.

THEME:
ANY Vintage Port from the 1970's (1970-1979). That covers a broad decade of good stuff and will make life easier for all who would like to attend.

Those attending:
Andy V. 1975 Warre's (in keeping with an earlier suggestion of this controversial year)
Alex B.
Alex R.
Ryan C.
Marc J.
Dan M.
Heather H.
Jason S.

Possible:
Glenn
Eric I.
Cris W.

Please post what you plan on bringing so we don't have duplicate bottles.

I'll be there! I'm easy on a theme - a '75 horizontal would be interesting as I have not drunk many ports from that vintage. If '75s are too difficult to find, then how about a "8th decade of the 1900s" theme. Any port from a vintage staring 197...

1975 would be fun, I've never had any 75s so it would be very educational for me. I have one...a 1975 Warre's VP.

I'm in!!! I'm looking forward to comparing the 75s and hopefully see which ones still have some life left in them.

I might be able to come. But, I've drunken up all my 75's a while ago. Any possible alternatives? Or should I go and try to purchase one?

There is a chance I might be able to fly down as well, but I won't really be able to say for certain until after I return from Portugal on the 29th. (And realistically not until the end of that week, so 10/3 at best.)

I'm completely devoid of 1975s also, but could purchase one if I'm able to fly down. I'll keep you posted!

75's can be a little tough to find without getting duplicate bottles. so maybe a mini vertical of 75's for those that have some, or can get one. And then the rest can me a mix of stuff that Alex mentioned...any Vintage Port from the 1970's.

How does that sound to everyone?

I've got a 1975 Warre's I'll add in.

Ok, after Alex and I consulted (he'll get my bill later) we decided on any Vintage Port from the 1970's (1970-1979). That opens it up a bit and makes it easier for people who would like to come. Orginal thread updated.

Advice for those who have not met them: Andy Velebil and Al-B will drink any vintage port you put in front of them. Bring what you have and they will welcome you with open arms. Don't be put off by the notion that this tasting has a theme. The theme is actually named "Al-B is in the States and needs your help to find some Port to drink"

Almost any Port...no more Vasconcellos ruby Port :Naughty: bad bad stuff
As people that have been to my little casa before know, its a fun and low key evening. Ohh and if anyone even thinks about showing up wearing a tie or some other formal wear, don't even think about. This is L.A., the land of tee shirts, shorts, and flip-flops 8--)

Alex R. has offered to cook up some meat for dinner, so we're off to a great start....Port, food, and good company. what more could we ask for. There is still room if others want to come.

Sorry folks. With the downturn in business, we have had to cut back on our travel plans with the result that I will only make it over to the East and not the West Coast.
