Finally - or almost - made a good deal? H&H Bual '54 & '57

Post by Andreas Platt »

The other day i search the web for Tokaji and find a store nearby that has some. When looking at the available Tokaji's i find nothing interesting, but a few lines above "other" sweeties are listed. I have a glimpse look and suddenly see "Henriques & Henriques" and my curiosity rises as i see "Bual" and "Garrafeira" and finally "1954" and "1957".
Then, looking further right (where the prices are) i see "EUR 44,-".

Hmmm - i guess you can imagine my thoughts: "is it true or mistyped, if not: my precious - it's all mine".

Giving the guy a call and asking him if he has bottles in stock (not asking ybout pricing) and hearing a "1 bottle each" was nice. Then i drive over to his store and when i finally wanted to pay and ask him for the price (not having done that before, as i didn't want to give him a chance to check pricing on the web) he answers.

Well, you guessed it: the price of course was not the EUR 44,-. To make it more thrilling i will tell you: he said EUR 61,- since he made new prices. I was actually happy, but didn't want to show and suggested meeting half way, his reply EUR 50,- which was obviously fine for both of us.

Guess that's my first good deal (winesearcher shows USD 200 ex tax and above), but i'm afraid that it'll stay my last.
