Fonseca 2000

For those in England (and that believe that buying young port is a good idea

), the Farr January sale has Fons. '00 at GBP360 per case (excluding Tax). I'm trying to see the catch, but even with tax and delivery that's little over half the current price at BBR (GBP65 per bottle).
Someone recently reported 00 prices slipping (sorry can't recall who it was) but here is a real steal if you like infanticide or a long term-investment :!: .

Good deal. Well I'm not a Farr customer, and wouldn't want 18 bottles to make the £500 min. But if someone else was in for some, I'd help make up an order.
Cheers

And they've got 35 cases to shift.
Don't you hate seeing offers like this when you've already got a case in the cellar

If it was 66 or 70 I'd go halves anytime on a Farr offer that is this good, but I wouldn't want this cluttering up my Eurocave until I retire.
Well, there's a 15m lotto jackpot this w/e, I might have those 35 cases yet

Nick,
If you fancy going halves on 18 bottles from Farr's, I'd be happy to take 9 of them.

3x6 sounds perfect to me. A half case of wine that I can crack open when I'm bored reading Stuart's notes on old 1908 wines

(I seriously wish I had been there to experience that

)
Nick?

What 1908s? Must have been someone else and I must have missed them

.
Anyhow, I wouldn't touch 1908s, :o they need a few more years yet. Maybe the lesser 04s should be first

Apologies - it was Tom's note on the Martinez 1908 that I read with envy.
But I agree with the sentiment - better to open the '04s before the '08s.....you do mean the 2004s, don't you...

For sure, 6 is perfect - anyone already a customer and can do the honours? I assume we'll all be meeting up soon for the Vesuvio tasting and/or other - any proposals for taking this forward?
PS Just thought that one person would need to bring 12 botts this way - which is impractical. Is this a flyer still?

I don't actually want any, but I have got an account with them. If everyone sends me the dosh first I'd be happy to order them and leave them in my office (very central) for everyone to collect. However, would be better if one of you did it I suppose.
I think it would be about 226 for each 6 with duty (20?), delivery (15?) and VAT (17.5).

I'm still happy to go for it but I am not a customer of Farr's - are you Alex?

I'm not a customer of Farr's so don't have an account with them.
Stuart - if you are happy to have the responsibility of looking after the wine in your London office until people can collect, that would suit me down to the ground. It looks like I will be in London on a number of occasions in January so will be able to collect in due course, certainly before we get together for the Vesuvio tasting.
If you PM me your address, I will send you a cheque by return (or bank details and I will e-transfer money to you).

PS. I make it a little under £229...

I agree, if you see my earlier calculation, I think it is just under 226.
However, when duty etc is added it never comes out as one might expect, always =+/- a few pennies.
