For The Love Of Port

On Friday january 2nd I am hosting a VP offline at my house. Since we've been talking about them I thought it would be fun to taste a bunch of them side by side and see how they really stack up. So if you want to come let me know....post here, email me, PM, pigon delivery, whatever (email and Pm link is to the right of this thread). All are welcome, the only requirement is a bottle of 1975 VP.


The good news is, if you need to source one, they can be found cheaply at retail right now

I've got a 1975 Warres VP to start things off.

Although I cannot join you in person I have quite a few 1975 VPs so will happily open one on 1st Feb and join you in spirit

No. It's because you guys in the New World don't know how to write dates properly. 1/2/09 = 1 Feb 09 - your February 1st is our 1st of February - interesting to note that we understand your language but you struggle with ours

Yes, we certainly have a hard time comprehending your language. Especially difficult are things like trying to figure out what the heck the difference is between "your February 1st" and "our 1st of February." Semantics aside ... it is the same darn day!

No wonder you guys sat me down at the other end of the table at the Cockburn's event. Fortunately, I was able to speak French with the folks at that end of the table and we all understood each other perfectly.

For anyone else interested in coming let me know, there is still room for more. And we've opened up the theme a bit to include any Vintage Port from 1970 thru 1983, as not many people down here had 1975 VP's in their cellars.

Well, with a few last minute cancellations on the day of the event, this ended up being a rather small group. Alex and his wife, Cris, and I were the only ones. Not to worry, we still had a fun time that strectched well into the AM. I'll have some TN's up soon, but we had the following wines;

1977 Burmester Vintage Port
1975 Warre's Vintage Port
1980 Graham's Vintage Port
and since we ran low of those a last minute Sandeman 20 year old tawny Port to cap things off.

Sounds like fun ... especially the Burmester VP. Wow, how timely with that being #22.

I am ashamed to admit ... that is my favorite fast food addiction ... but not just 2 at a time!

The Burmester was interesting...hopefully full TN's should be up in a couple days. I've been swamped at work and other home duties since this offline and haven't had time to spend writing them up yet.
