Well, I bought a few bottles of the 2000 Fonseca that wine commune was blowing out for ~$45 per bottle. I'll be opening one up in a couple weeks but I was wondering if anyone else has tasted this and if they could post their impressions so I know what to expect.

Thanks,
Kris

Kris,

I hope others here will post their TNs but if you check the TN archive on the FTLOP website, you'll find a few of my TNs on this wine at different times.

I tasted it once, didn't make a proper TN, but LadyRoots did. Here's the link:

It was probably the best 2000 I've tasted so far, and I'm looking forward to retaste it (along with many other 2000's) end of this month.

I plan on drinking it over the weekend, how long should I decant it for?

As long as you possibly can. I suspect it will be closed at the moment.

I think my question was misleading. I was looking for taste notes from this specific lot. By all accounts 2000 Fonseca should be fabulous. So, has anyone that bought the 2000 Fonseca from wine commune opened one yet?

I finally got around to tasting this. I purchased several bottles of this from Wine Commune and was looking forward to tasting it sooner rather than later since the price was so good. Before opening the bottle I noticed that the wine was 1.3 inches below the base of the cork but was 0.75 inches into the neck of the bottle. I was a little concerned that this might be kind of a low fill level but as my tasting note will show this wine was very good and the fill level is nothing to be concerned about.

I decanted this at 10am today and noticed that the wine was a medium dark red with lots of red fruit aromas. There was quite a bit of very fine sediment in the bottle. 10 hours later the wine is significantly darker and offers a much more complex nose. There are hints of all kinds of berries on the nose, cinnamon, coffee, and flowers. On the palate the wine is round and full. Sweet, tannic, warm, spicy finish that goes on and on. (94 pts.)
